UPDATE: I had hoped to get a reponse from the Reverned Dean Dombroski, since I sent him the post when I published it. So far, he’s choosing to remain silent.
A woman in Wisconsin has basically been booted out of her church for selling sex toys on the side. Because of illness, she’s been left shall we say, somewhat dysfunctional in this area. She found that the toys helped her. Because of this, she’s started selling them herself, reaching out to other women who have been similarly afflicted. Her pastor, kind Christian soul that he is, sent a fairly nasty letter to the congregation explaining that she was being dismissed from her unpaid duties as choir director, organist, photographer, etc. because of her sideline. A sideline which she isn’t pushing on the congregation. After a friend showed her the letter that the pastor sent, she felt compelled to send her own three page letter to the congregation detailing her reasons for refusing to be forced into giving up her business because of a short-sighted, small-minded, hypocritical, un-Christian pastor. Many of the congregation are openly supporting her and have quit in protest.
Hey, there, Rev. Dean Dombroski, what ever happened to “turn the other cheek“, “love thy brother as thyself,” or how about Matthew 7:5. For those of you unfamiliar with it, here it is “Thou hypocrite, first cast
out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to
cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” Let’s see if we can’t find some more pertinent scripture – like….ooooo….Luke 6:37 “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.” or James 5:9 ”
Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.” Or another of my favorites when confronting judgemental jackasses…Matthew 7:1&2. “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”
