A Florida diver has apparently discovered the hard way that some things are better left alone. He decided to go spear fishing while free diving. While he was paddling about the briny deep, he decided that it was a good idea to hook into a Goliath Grouper. Now, for those of you who don’t know what this is, this is a fish that can grow up to 8 feet in length and weigh in at 800 lbs. Personally, I tend to leave wild beasts that outweigh me alone, not stab them with a harpoon, hoping to drag them to the surface. The grouper fled for the ocean floor, tangling the diver in the line. Once there, the grouper wedged himself into his favorite hidey-hole and the diver never surfaced again, thus earning himself the ever-prestigious Darwin award.
I’m very sorry for the man’s family and friends since they have lost a loved one. That still doesn’t mean he wasn’t a dumba$$.
